I am really hoping to find a solution/fix for this without needing to boot it all and through away a lot of Family pictures and other "non-backed up documents"
"The only one failed is "Primary SATA Drive 0. Maxtor 6Y12OMO . which FAILED with a return code of 7."
Reinstalling will not fix it, the hard drive is bad, replace the drive, install xp on the new drive, mount the old dive in the system as a secondary drive and see if you can save your data, it may be lost forever.
Put the old drive back in the system (sata port 1) After you install XP on the new drive, get drivers installed and windows updates.
My past experience with this problem ended up with a bad hard drive. Everyone on this forum kept telling me this, but I did not want to believe them. I spent many hours and tried everything under the sun to fix the problem. My advice.... ghost your hard drive, or at least back up important data, then get yourself a new hard drive before it's too late. My 2 cents. Been there..done that!
