I my question I was referring to this solution:

The download page where I found the XP Boot desk code

I am really hoping to find a solution/fix for this without needing to boot it all and through away a lot of Family pictures and other "non-backed up documents"

Thanks

Thanks guys.... I really appreciate your input....

I have been running the DELL Diagnostics and all tests on "Windows Blue screen " have passed.
The only one failed is "Primary SATA Drive 0. Maxtor 6Y12OMO . which FAILED with a return code of 7.

But .. how can I make a copy of the hard desk before I start up reinstall everything?
Unfortunately I do not have a secondary SATA Drive on this PC, any suggestions ??

Thanks

It is also a possibility the hard drive itself is failing and the software install is a coincidence.

You can run the Dell diagnostics on your hardware to find out.

Reinstalling will not fix it, the hard drive is bad, replace the drive, install xp on the new drive, mount the old dive in the system as a secondary drive and see if you can save your data, it may be lost forever.

Put the old drive back in the system (sata port 1) After you install XP on the new drive, get drivers installed and windows updates.

My past experience with this problem ended up with a bad hard drive. Everyone on this forum kept telling me this, but I did not want to believe them. I spent many hours and tried everything under the sun to fix the problem. My advice.... ghost your hard drive, or at least back up important data, then get yourself a new hard drive before it's too late. My 2 cents. Been there..done that!
