Windows xp Operating Cd Question

Why do I have to pay 99 dollars for a 3 day warrenty.
If I do, do I get to keep the installation cd's so If my computer is lost again I don't have to pay 99 dollars.

Or is this some kind of scam dell is pulling to make more money.
Is there a different way of fixing a computer?
Please respond ASAP

RecklessDancer,

You can request an XP CD from Dell using one of the links in this post.

The procedure to correct the error message you are receiving is here and/or here. Note that this procedure is not always successful.
