Word Processor & Word
My old Dell came with MS Word, but the new one just comes with Works Word Processor. But when I open my old Word files, they come up as WordPad.
I called Dell and was told to open each file INDIVIDUALLY as Word Processor. This seems a bit crazy, as I have 800 files.
Does anyone know how I can automatically change all old Word files to Word Processor files.
I'm sure there's a way.
thanks

There's no "mass" conversion program that I know of. You will have to open them individually, as needed.
You probably should consder buying MS Word. One option is to buy the MS WorksSuite program, as that includes MS Word and may be the least expensive option (it's less than just buying MS Word).

It seems strange that Dell won't write a simple conversion program, and that they expect me to convert hundreds of files individualy.
I expect this is just a scam they've worked out with MS, to force people to buy Word seperately..
thanks

Yeah.. they want me to buy Word.. why?
I've been given perfectly good Word Processing software free. Why buy new software. Of course, I have to install Word, or I'm going to spend the next 3 months manually transfering every Word file to the new software, which is a bit crazy considering a simple program could do the thing automatically.
