It is possible that your firewall or anti-virus may be blocking the companion from being able to communicate with PocketCloud. Try temporarily disabling them and adding the applications to the allowed applications lists in both to see if that helps.

I've done both of these things with the same result for local wireless
Do you have more than 1 VNC client installed on your computer? What version of PocketCloud are you using (Free or Pro)? When you cannot connect, if you right click on the companion icon (kite) in your system tray, does it have a green dot and say "Sign out
- xxxxxx@gmail.com" or does it have a red dot and say "Sign in - xxxxxxx@gmail.com"?
