XPS 730X unable to run AlienFx app in Windows XP x64
just beware when Dell wrote driver and mentions Windows vista 32, 64, Window XP, that does not include XP 64 bit.
the vista 64 bit driver is definitely good for Windows 7 x64 and likely good for Windows 10/11 64 bit too,
but it is not backward compatible with Windows XP x64.
I tried it but got an error of AlienFx controller
AlienFx editor will open but PC light does not respond to LED control.
not sure if this a way to run the app smoothly in XP 64, I even tried compatibility which does not offer XP x64 specifically either, only XP, which does not work either.

I end up giving up XP x64 on the XPS model for the above reason.
have to admit Windows 7 install driver is better experience
it installs generic audio ethernet and chipset drivers all good so I do not need to manually install each.
I just have to use automated system to activate Windows 7 off line. my only wireless adapter that has Windows 7 driver written is not available on Linksys support any more. I could find one copy on softpedia but I usually hesitate to DL and install from third party. some of these sites hide malware in it.
not that I plan to use Windows 7 on line but to activate sometimes internet connection is asked for. luckily the automated phone activation comes handy, you just need a smart phone to do it.
