XPS 8930, Enabling TPM 2.0
I know the 8930 is capable of running TPM 2.0. I had it enabled back a few years ago.
The PC is in UEFI mode. I'm going to make a system image with Macrium Reflect. I already have a rescue media on a USB flash stick to re-image Windows 10 with version 8.0 just in case if anything goes awry when I enable Legacy Option ROMS.
I didn't run into any issue with the OS one time before when I had disabled Legacy Option ROMS and secure boot.
Why I want to enable secure boot which in turn enables TPM 2.0 is for the reason that some time this year before October I'll have to upgrade to Windows 11 before 10 isn't any longer supported.
First Question: Some on some other non-Dell forums have stated (and maybe its misinformation, idk) that you don't need to have Secure Boot enabled to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. In order for TPM 2.0 to be enabled then, Secure Boot has to be enabled on a Dell XPX 8930. Correct ?
Anyway, Microsoft says TPM 2.0 is one of the minimum requirements to be able to upgrade from Win 10 to Win 11. I'm absolutely sure TPM 2.0 is currently disabled on my 8930.
Second question: What potential risk involved when enabling Legacy Option ROMS in the BIOS to turn on Secure Boot if say, for instance, you found something went wrong after enabling Legacy Option ROMS / Secure Boot in the BIOS and you found out the system backup failed which you didn't expect to happen ?
I don't believe a risk is involved, but I've been wrong before on occasions

You can't enable Secure Boot when Legacy ROM Options is enabled in BIOS on XPS 8930. And you can't enable TPM when Secure Boot is disabled. So you will have to disable Legacy, enable Secure Boot and then enable TPM.
I disabled Secure Boot and TPM and enabled Legacy when setting up my new XPS 8930 back in 2019 because I was afraid an older scanner might not work. Turns out that was unnecessary. I subsequently disabled Legacy and re-enabled Secure Boot and TPM and everything, including the scanner, works correctly.
Don't think you'll have any problems making those changes...
To check TPM status: click Start>Run>tpm.msc and click OK. The window that opens will tell you if TPM is enabled or disabled. Good idea to check after making the necessary BIOS changes...

Pardon my mistake for mis-typing a word.
I meant to type under the second question, " . . . you found something went wrong after disabling Legacy Option ROMS . . ."

@RoHe one would think there wouldn't be a problem if I now wanted to turn secure boot back ON.
Just couldn't remember for certain if you decided to changed back to secure boot after you had disabled it in the past, or if enabling TPM after enabling secure boot, whether a problem might be encountered. . .
I'll have a recent system backup made just before making the changes in BIOS . . just before taking the plunge forward with upgrading to Win11
Thanks Ron

Had zero problems after disabling Legacy ROM and re-enabling Secure Boot and then TPM in BIOS my XPS 8930.
