XPS 8930, USB flash bios upgrade 1.1.30 file not found
So I'm running the 1.1.28 bios version, and downloaded the newer 1.1.30 exe file. Placed that complete XPS8930_1.1.30.exe file by itself, on a USB drive, and rebooted F12 wise into the bios screen. There, no matter what I do, I can not see that file to upgrade, assuming it would find the newer bios file withing the exe file. What am I doing wrong?

Your USB is formatted FAT32?

What size USB stick (2- or 4-GB is best)? And is it formatted FAT32?
Are you selecting the Flash Update option on the F12 menu? If yes, are you tabbing through the boxes to the one on right in middle? The .exe file name should appear there. Press Enter to select it, and the file name should automatically appear in left middle box. Tab to and select the start button.
Leave PC alone until it's safely back at the Windows desktop, even when it appears to have shut down completely...

@ProfessorW00d Yes, but it is a large 120GB stick, will look for another.

@XPS-i7-9700 - 120 GB is much too big. Find a 2-, 4- or (maybe) 8 GB USB2 stick and format FAT32, if not already formatted that way. Any stick bigger than that won't be recognized...
If you can't find/borrow one, you can run the install from inside Windows. Download the BIOS .exe file onto an internal drive. Double-click the saved file and run the update that way. Just don't use SupportAssist/Dell Update to run it inside Windows.

@RoHe Thanks for the reply. I did format the stick Fat32 before copying the file. But, it is a large stick at 120GB. I saw a note earlier about using a smaller stick, and will try and look or borrow an old smaller one here, and re-post.

@RoHe Yes, I was trying not to run it from the PC.
I found an old 1GB drive in the truck that I used for loading mp3 music files. Removed the files, formatted the drive, and the 1.1.30 upgrade went smoothly. Thanks to all for the help.
