XPS 8930, Windows 11, Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet controller
I have a Dell XPS 8930 desktop computer. Recently updated to the latest version of Windows 11 Home version 24H2. I also have Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet controller. I do NOT have wifi. I only have ethernet cable connection. Having problem when computer wakes from sleep mode. It will not connect to internet. Or should I say it might say connected for a brief second and then says no connection. None of the troubleshooting suggestions is a permanent fix.
I've tried a whole list of things. I have chatted with a number of Microsoft techs who had access to my computer. Still no permanent fix. Is this Killer E24 Gigabit Ethernet controller not compatible with Windows 11? Has anyone found a permanent solution to this problem? And, yes, I and Microsoft techs have tried a long list of things. Many suggested under Power Management to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" That has been done and does not fix the problem. Anyone know a fix that actually works permanently?
I am running the XPS 8930 desktop tower, with the Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet controller, and just today updated Windows 10 to Windows 11. So far it is working well, I have not had a problem with that.
I also have no Wifi, I removed the wifi card from the small slot on the motherboard years ago, and it is still disconnected.
What 8930 BIOS version are you using? I updated mine to XPS8930_1.1.28 from Dell, before I installed Windows 11.
I just updated my XPS to Win 11 25H2 from Win 10 on 12 Oct 2025.
Just wanted to point out the latest 8930 BIOS is ver. 1.1.31 - dated 23 Sep 2023. You can download it from Support on this web site.
Also, other users have pointed out problems with the Killer E2400 driver. I uninstalled mine and it fixed my upload problem. Removing the driver has fixed other problems.
After updating my 8930 to W11, this Killer stuff returned with E2400 driver and it's a nightmare. Kills all upload speed. Uninstalling is easy but it keeps coming back no matter what I do. .

I misspoke, I did not uninstall my Killer 2400 driver at that time.
After I updated to Win 11 25H2 (14 Oct) I discovered my upload speed had dropped tremendously.
I learned on this Community that the Killer driver was the problem and checked on the Dell Support area and learned that the Killer E2400 driver had been updated: E2500 . . . .
I had missed that updated driver by 2 years. I downloaded the driver and installed it and that is when my problem started. I forgot that I had the same trouble with the Killer driver back in Jun 2025 and all the way back to 2020. Reinstalling that 'updated' driver re-installed the Killer apps.
I learned this from the other post I mentioned in my previous message. Note: Your image display may be different.
I went into the Killer Ethernet Performance Suite and simply turned OFF the Killer Prioritization Engine and turned off Auto Bandwidth and Doubleshot Pro.
Turning off those items immediately solved my upload speed problem & that was on the morning of 23 Oct 25. My download/upload speeds went back to my normal 500+/500+ (down& up).
In the afternoon of 23 Oct, a Frontier Tech came to my house and upgraded my eero Wi-Fi 7 Router to 1GB speed. (For more money, monthly, of course)
My download/upload speeds immediately increased. Sample:
I then removed the Killer Intelligence Center (whatever the filename was) from my Control Panel> Uninstall a Program - list. It only removed the file from that list. I learned that the Killer Analytics Service & Killer Network Service were still listed (installed) in my Task Manager: Processes, App History, Startup Apps, Details & Services.
This a new sample speedtest after the removal:
That is a much improved download/upload speed from my past. Of course, those numbers are different each time you test speed.
The Killer Analytics Service & Killer Network Service are still listed (installed) in my Task Manager:
Processes (End Task is an option)
App History (Don't know how to remove this)
Startup Apps (disabled, later removed itself from the list)
Details (Not Allowed - I did not set this option - End Task is an option)
Services (Stop Services is an option)
I learned that the Task Manager: Processes, App History, & Details, The Killer Network Service "General - Details" shows a "Date modified 7/13/2023".
Although I installed the "Recommended 23 Sep 2023" from Dell Support, the Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller Properties still show that the 2020 driver is installed.
The computer display of the Network Ethernet still shows the 2020 Killer driver:
I have made a Macrium backup of my C: (OS) drive and I will go in and change those items that I can and report back any consequences.
It is not great, but at least, if some future Win 11 update re-installs this Killer driver, as least the remedy is easy and relatively fast.
I don't know how many computer systems use this Killer Controller and whether or not is affects all of them with slow upload speeds, someone needs to repair this driver.
I've tried stopping and removing from task mgr AND using the uninstaller tool and killer will be gone, everything will go back to normal speed BUT within a day or so the Killer magically reappears and upload speed is back to <1.
My Killer Network Service came back on 28 Oct when I installed the latest update from Microsoft (KB5067069 (26200.7019) and Optional non-security update for . . . .
In Task Manager > Services, I Stopped > Killer Network Service (again) and left Killer Analytics Service > Running - brought my upload speed back to normal.
Since Killer Network Service seems to be the one causing the problems, I clicked on Properties when it was earlier listed in the Task Manager > Details to determine the path of the killer file. It is:

Hi
I can offer some commands that may reset the ethernet connection....
First I would, and you probably have, FIXED it's IP address and set the longest LEASE time you can.
IP4 or IP6 or BOTH?
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
The intent is to re-connect without re-boot.
The difficulty is establishing whether it is the IP address or the Default Gateway that is absent.
If in doubt please ask.
Kind Regards
