XPS 8940, replacing and upgrading NVMe SSD?
Hi. I am looking to upgrade/replace my current nvme ssd (512gb) to a 2tb nvme ssd (Crucial P3 Plus 2TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD). What are the steps to do so? I wanted to keep it as simple as possible, so I am not looking to clone the current drive, theres nothing on it I want to keep (files, settings, etc..). How would I go about prepping this? Was hoping it would be as simple as swapping the drive and once it boots, windows 11 will start the install. But I am assuming it wouldn't be that easy. Like I said, not interested in cloning my current drive, just wanted to start fresh.

Thank you for a response. A couple more questions. I dont have to mess around with any settings in BIOS? (ie. changing from RAID to AHCI, etc..)
Also if i were to clone (using a nvme m2 usb adapter). Would I just plug in the new one, clone using macrium or acronis. Shutdown and just swap the drives?
Thank you again

Download Win 11 installation media from MS to prepare a USB installer. Swap the drive. Proceed to boot from USB by F12 choose USB. Then install fresh

If you have a single new nvme ssd, no need to bother with bios settings AHCI vs RAID.
you said you don’t want to clone. So clean install is easier.
I never recommend third party tool to clone if you change mind. Windows can do it but you would need a >512 GB usb external hdd and a >1 GB usb flash drive to help.

@redxps630 Ok great. Sounds like I will just go the fresh install route. Thanks for your help.
