BIOS Corruption after Dell support "Critical" download on XPS 15 7590
I downloaded a "Critical" BIOS update from Dell support after inputting my service tag. When the system rebooted, I got a "BIOS corruption has been detected and Auto Recovery is triggered!" message.
Auto Recovery then started and errored out saying "BIOS Update Blocked. The system is configured to block updates to previous revisions" and then gives me a "BIOS Auto Recovery failed" error message.
I contacted support who asked me to buy their software support contract to assist. But this system was bootable and functional prior to downloading the BIOS file. They system is out of warranty yes, but as I said, it was functional prior to attempting the BIOS download.
What can I do to fix this?

What version of the bios did you download?
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

The latest BIOS firmware for XPS 15 7590 is 1.35.0. Note the restriction: Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to version 1.32.0 or earlier. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.
If your BIOS Auto Recovery was blocked, the current BIOS Recovery Image on your system probably be version 1.32.0 or older. To fix the issue, you need to perform BIOS recovery from a USB, which contains a BIOS recovery image of version 1.33.0 or newer.
Review this article for instructions of how to perform BIOS Recovery 2 from an external USB https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000132453/how-to-recover-the-bios-on-a-dell-computer-or-tablet
This is the latest BIOS Recovery Image File BIOS_IMG.rcv for your XPS 15 7590.

Hi
Hope this helps...
It is a loosley gathered thoughts put down on 'paper' by me and is not in anyway an actual set of instructions, just an aide memoire for myself for a future time of need.
