Buy a Dell laptop with Ubuntu pre-installed

Hi

I would like to buy a Dell laptop with Linux/Ubuntu pre-installed.

Where can I buy a Dell laptop with linux pre-installed? Preferably on the DK dell shop-site.

Or how can I be notified when they are available again (on the DK market)?

Thanks?

Your question likely means there is no configuration sold with Linux at present -- and recent XPS systems have not had Linux support from Dell.  No one knows when that will change -- but you'll have an easier time looking at a Latitude model, where Linux support is more prevalent.

Thanks for the tip. Things have changed over time.

However I've looked at latitudes as well. I have actually look at laptops in general, but I can't find any laptop with Linux option.

What is the recommendation?

It may be that in whatever market you're buying, there's insufficient demand for Linux notebooks to support the sale of models with it as factory standard.

There are notebooks you can buy that actually come with no operating system -- the Framework notebook is one of them.  There's also no real reason you can't buy a Dell notebook with Windows and install your choice of Linux distribution, but before you do, investigate with the support community for that distribution to make sure there are hardware drivers for your distro and the hardware in the system.

The more specialized the notebook (Alienware and other gaming systems come to mind, as to 2-in-1 systems with pen support), the less likely you'll find a complete set of drivers that allow using all the features in the system.  If you're buying a gaming system or a 2-in-1 tablet/computer for the feature set they offer, Linux may not be the best choice.

I am buying it for programming. My motivation is not to pay for Windows as I won't use it. I'll take a look at Framework notebook.
