This thunderbolt application is not in use anymore and can be safely uninstalled

Hi, each time I power on the Dell XPS 9570 Windows 10 the following error shows: "Application cannot run .This thunderbolt application is not in use anymore and can be safely uninstalled"

I see no conflicts in Device Manager. Any fix? Thanks

@alegator  Starting with some release of Windows 10 I can’t remember, Thunderbolt support was built into the OS natively, and the legacy Thunderbolt application was replaced with Thunderbolt Control Center. So just uninstall that legacy Thunderbolt application using Programs and Features.

Janaka_V,

Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver resolves the issue.

Thanks and kudos! I uninstalled the Thunderbolt Software, just leaving the Thunderbolt Control Center, and all is fine now, problem solved

For anyone else finding this post, the solution applies to Windows 11. I upgraded a XPS 15 9570 and the error message began to appear. Removing the Thunderbolt software fixed the issue.

Hi,

I noticed this error on startup since a recent Windows 11 update. The only software I can see is Thunderbolt software (17.4.79.510 - 21-09-2019). However, after uninstall it immediately reappears with the device disconnect reconnect windows sounds. Anyone else find a workaround or solution with this issue? Please share your experience.
