XPS 9570 15 shuts down randomly
I have an XPS 9570 that is a few months out of warranty. It frequently shuts down with no warning, and not during CPU or GPU intensive tasks. It happens more often when on battery, especially < 50% battery, but it also happens when battery is 100% and power adapter is connected.
From Event Viewer:
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

I'm having a similar issue; on both windows and Linux (dual boot) the laptop randomly enters sleep mode every 15-30 seconds. It will do this for a while, and then just as suddenly it will stop.
I need help with the asap. The laptop is under 2 years old.

You reached out to me directly, and when I replied you told me my warranty is expired. This is true but we are still asking for help.
Other people are having this issue as well: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9575-2-in-1-going-to-sleep-shutting-down/td-p/7394825
There is a post flagged as the solution saying update to the latest bios. I have done this, as have others on that thread, and the problem has not resolved.
I've never experienced this sort of systematic failure within 2 years. Especially not from a high end machine like the XPS15. I expected higher build quality and customer support from Dell.
Surely someone there can offer some sort of troubleshooting advice?

I noticed in my BIOS events there's an error: "ASF2 force off". This seems very common from reading the forums; one user who purchases large quantities of Dell gear reported 20% of his fleet is affected by this error. And it seems to crop up shortly after the warranty expires. From what I've read, the only fix is a new motherboard.

I'd bet that its less shutting down, and more because of a BSOD. It seems a common problem on the 9570's
If I were you, I'd download 'WhoCrashed', just run it and hit 'Analyse' then scroll down a bit.
Hopefully there is something listed in there other than 'hal.dll' and you can narrow down the cause of the problem. Hopefully just a driver that you can update.

I would be inclined to agree, except that the problem happens in BIOS as well as when the OS is running.

Hi,
Even I facing the shutdown of the laptop every 10minutes with XPS 15 9570. The age of the laptop is just 1.5 years. If anyone has a solution please provide it to resolve.

I'm having the exact same problem. Started yesterday. My motherboard was replaced about three months ago for a different (worse) issue. I love this computer but it seems to have real problems unfortunately.

I've been having the same issue. My XPS 9750H keeps shutting down. Often, I have to push the power button multiple times for the computer respond afterwards. It is approx 3 months old.

Hi guys. I had some similar issues with my laptop. It was shutting down randomly on power or battery. Then it was getting worse where it would not power on only after a few retries. I tried some of the suggested fixes:
https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9560-Shuts-down-randomly/td-p/5712086
https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-Laptop-won-t-turn-on/td-p/5713338
Neither seemed to have made any difference. Any ways for the heck of it I restored the bios to the factory setting and the laptop was stable with no issues. I then updated the bios to the latest and so far so good. Hopefully this helps out your issue as I know this is super frustrating.

We are having the same issue, my superior had me install a new battery in her laptop thinking this was the issue. I perhaps should of done more troubleshooting before the purchase of the new battery, as it was concerning that only after two years it would hold no charge. So the issue remains and there is no solution in sight. It seems like their may be a faulty component issue (something shorting) seeing that the forum highlights that it affects approximately 20% of users. Does anyone know if anything in particular happened to their machine before this started happening? Maybe we can narrow down to the solution.

I have this, but only since upgrading the bios.
I didn't take note of the original version but it was likely orignal from 2018
Never happens on external power though; only on battery.

In my case, my laptop was running perfect but the battery was getting weaker and weaker. I ordered a new battery(genuine dell oem) and replaced the battery. Well, its been random shut offs ever since, it is very random though. Sometimes I can go days and it runs fine, sometimes It goes into a fit and shuts down 2-3 times in a row. Also, if I move the laptop or even barealy touch the power cord it shuts off. By shut off I mean immediate power failure. Also, it seems to happen more often when I run gpu intensive applications, sometimes it shuts off soon as I open a game or something but not always. It all started literally right after I replaced the battery and also the battery shows its charged to 100%, however I have to keep the laptop plugged in or else power failure. Its a very very odd bug whatever it is. And, one last note, I have been servicing computers for years so no I did not mess anything up when installing the battery. This also happened right after my warranty was up. I am in the market for a new one now and really want one of the new xps but I am affraid that this power failure was never fixed and also ignored therefore I am reluctant.

I have had the above problems too, after contacting Dell they said you are out of warrantee. It took a year for me to work out that it wasnt some dumb setting. Dell obviously realise its a big issue and dont want to admit or fix it. I for one wont buy another of their products, thats all I can really do. Shame
