Dell XPS 15 L502x buzzing and stuttering problems persist even after uninstalling Dell SupportAssist

So a few days ago, I (and some other number of people it seems based on this forum) started to have issues with my laptop buzzing and pausing at short intervals while watching youtube, playing music, or gaming. I was able to find a post on this forum relating to the issue which suggested uninstalling Dell SupportAssist and SupportAssistAgent. (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19618183

I proceeded to do this and everything seemed seemed to be working fine. The buzzing was now gonewhen I played videos or music; however, when I tried to play a game, the problem was still there. I've  already tried updating my drivers and I doubt the problem is overheating, since my computer  wasn't getting that hot.

If anyone could offer any help on finding a solution, it would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

RE: Dell XPS 15 L502x buzzing and stuttering problems persist even after uninstalling Dell SupportAssist

Same problems as others with Inspiron 1570, Windows 7. Tried uninstalling Support Assist Agent. Did not solve problem. Then uninstalled Support Assist  as well. Problem still occurring.  As others have said elsewhere there is a buzz/freeze on video playback at intervals of around a minute but even this is not consistent. Problem first experienced Friday 13 Feb (UK time).

Suggestions appreciated.

RE: Dell XPS 15 L502x buzzing and stuttering problems persist even after uninstalling Dell SupportAssist

Having the same issue here. I have an xps 15 laptop,  I tried to run LatencyMon to assess the audio and other processes of the laptop,  which in turn,  the report said that one or more processes are running longer than expected and advised me to update the bios. I downloaded the bios update from the Dell support page, and ran it. Now my laptop is frozen, fan running at full speed, lost control over keyboard, mouse, touch screen and the power button -.-

Current progress says 90%..and it hasn't changed in 7 hours. I think I will disconnect power and let the battery do its business till it drains and try to start the pc afresh.. Any ideas guys? I'm scared now.

Having seen http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19618339/20728342#20728342 I stopped Dell Data Vault and Dell Data Vault Wizard services starting (using Autoruns). No more buzzing, even with Dell Support Assist re-installed, although video performance still seems slow. I haven't re-installed Dell Support Assist Agent.

RE: Dell XPS 15 L502x buzzing and stuttering problems persist even after uninstalling Dell SupportAssist

After a process of elimination, I found that the Service "Dell Data Vault" appears to be the culprit.  Try disabling this service in MSConfig.exe and reboot.  This stops the buzzing/freezing for me.  Further, if I re-start the service (type Services in the Start menu...), it immediately causes buzzing, and then this occurs every minute or so.

I imagine that uninstalling the Dell DataSafe application will uninstall the Dell Data Vault service, but I haven't tried that yet.

I hope Dell are working on this.

Deactivate  "Dell Data Vault Wizard" in MSConfig.exe. Restart Windows. Then it should be ok. See also: http://www.trojaner-board.de/164790-kurzes-stoppen-alle-60-sekunden-troet-geraeusch-3.html#post1438609
