Spilled lemonade on the keyboard.

 Hey guys,

I spilled lemonade on the keyboard of my Inspiron 5555 laptop. It will power on but, it goes back out and then a loud beeping noise starts. What to do?

Re: Spilled lemonade on the keyboard.

How many beeps do you hear in sequence? But most likely if it was a fair amount of liquid, the motherboard is damaged. Have you opened up the system to check on the moisture damage to the system? Did you shut down the system right away? If you turn the laptop upside down, did liquid run out of it? Prepare for the worst as electronics and any liquid are not a good combination. These links may help....good luck.

I hear 4 beeps repeatedly...I took off the keypad and it was sticky. I wiped it off along with the DVD player. The battery wasn't wet.

Beeps 4 times in sequence, I took out the keypad and it was sticky. I wiped it off, didn't shut down the system right away after it spilled because I didn't think it was that much liquid wasted.

Re: Spilled lemonade on the keyboard.

4 beeps indicate a memory error. It could be that the memory was affected by the liquid. Pull the memory and examine it. It could be as simple as the contacts are gummed up with the sticky residue. You can clean the contacts carefully and examine the SODIMM slots for  any residue as well. Or it could be that the slots are damaged from the spill and only a motherboard replacement would cure that.

Cleaning RAM modules.
