Touchpad Driver, Latitude 3440, Window 7 Pro 64 BIT

Hi There -

Am configuring this NICE Dell Latitude 960, running Windows 7 Pro, 64 BIT.

The FUNCTION KEY (F 3) that is 'supposed to' enable me to turn the Touch Pad ON or OFF does NOT work.

Attempted to find & download the appropriate driver that would enable that F3 key to do that. The 1 I did find and install FAILED.

Here's the title of the 1 I found & installed: DRVR_WIN_R311554.

Would appreciate an answer 2 this post with a link to the RIGHT driver download site, please.

Thanks

Patrick

There is no Latitude 960 -- let's start with the correct model number.

Before installing anything else, be sure you installed the chipset drivers and then rebooted.

For the hotkeys,  you'll need Dell's Quickset

support.dell.com, then Drivers.

Under chipset, install ALL the chipset drivers.

Then install the touchpad driver.

Finally install the quickset application (this is under Application in the drivers area).

Be sure Windows is fully updated with all security patches as well.

Touchpad Driver, Lat. 3440, - SOLVED

Well, that was good advice. Forced me to go bak to the 3440 site to check 2 C if I'd downloaded ALL the drivers.

Hadn't notice the "More Drivers" button at the bottom of the page.

Clicked it.

There was the Synaptic driver.

Installed it.

F3 function key NOW enables "OFF & ON" 4 the trackpad.

Thanks a TON.
