The better way to run a hardware diagnostic is outside of Windows - F12 at few times before windows loads to get in.  
What is reported here? http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/products?app=warranty
Check the date and time on the system.  If they're set to the future, this can happen.  
When you ran the test, was there a writeable card in the reader?  If there wasn't, the test will fail.
