I just replaced my original 2TB HDD with a 1TB [same exact manufacturer/specs, just smaller size] since my original crapped out, and also installed a Samsung 250GB M.2 NvME SSD to install Win10 on. I'm following the Dell Recovery Tool instructions found at https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/osiso/recoverytool/WT64A After choosing my language and keyboard layout and clicking Troubleshoot, all I see is "System image recovery: Recover Windows using a specific system image file" and not "Recover from a drive". I've got the Win10 image downloaded from the recovery tool on my 32GB thumb drive but I get this error when clicking system image recovery: "An internal error occurred. The following information might help you resolve the error: The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)." As far as I've researched, I am able to install Win10 that came with my laptop on a new HDD without having the original HDD or any original files, since it is completely useless now. Dell suggests to try a different thumb drive, which I've done, but I'm getting the same error. Am I wrong in my research? Any help is appreciated before I go out and waste money on a new copy of Win10. See attached images.
