From what you write, I should first uninstall it, install IE10, and instruct it to not update automatically, Or rather should I install the printer first, and then do that if I have problems? I normally use Firefox, but is useful to have IE on occasion,.. And is a new version of the printer driver, compatible with newer versions of IE expected soon?

I want to install my v305 printer on my Win 7 laptop. Should I use the installation disk that came with it, or the newest driver that I downloaded from the Dell support website, or both, and in what order. I remember the disk contains some other software that I would also like to install. Thanks.

Here we go again. I inserted the disc and went through the installing proceedure again. I feached the Congratulions dialog, clicked Test Page, and then nothing happened. In the  Setting > Printers folder there is only the OneNote. I leftclicked to safely remove the USB cable and then plugged it in again: It started to install driver softward, Then it informed me that Dell v305 is ready to use, but the v305 does not appear in the printers folder. I try to print a txt page, but the Notepad Print dialog only included the OneNote. This is the original problem for which I started this thread. What else should I try?
Also: I uninstalled the Printer from Programs and Features. Now, in the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86 folder there are several items: 3 folders: {30771020-...} containing dldtwhgw.ex... See more...

Now, in the C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86 folder there are several items: 3 folders: {30771020-...} containing dldtwhgw.exe {345AF576-...} containing dldtwhgw.exe 3 containing fpdfcjk.bin, msonpdrv.dll, msonpui.dll 6 files: frdvpr_drv.dll frdvpr_pnt.txt frdvpr_ui.dll msonpdrv.dll msonpui.dll Which of these folder and files should I delete? BTW, I haven't used any other printer, though in the Control Panel > Printers folder there is a Send to OneNote 2007 that I have no idea what it is and have never used. emf

I connect with USB but the printer can also be wireless. Yes, I do have a disc, but it is somewhat difficult to find it right now.

I thought I was all set, but I can't print test page from the computer. When I open the Start > Settings > Printers, v305 is not there. I also installed the Firmware $264847.eze, but that did not change the situation. How should I proceed?

The reason is I decided to update my system and went to where in the tab Drivers I found 12 recommended and 2  optionql drivers, so I decided to get them. Before I had tried a Dell tool to find out which drivers needed updating but it didn't work. Actually from the 14 drivers it seems that I had the newest version of about half. This particular driver was not one of them, and everything went smoothly except that in the end it opened the folder. Then I thought I had to check the F6Readme.txt file, and then I came here to make sure that everything was OK. BTW, in the Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers > Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI controller > Update Driver Software > Search automatically... it says that I have the latest driver. I started suspecting that the directions I read in the F6readme.txt file are intended for new installation. Please clarify. Unchecking the boxes in  power management did not help either. Am I the only one with this kind of problem?

I haven't been able to communicate with my v305 printer. At one point it stopped appearing in the Start > Settings > Printers Then after installing the latest driver, I came to this dialog: ----- Software Already Installed. What do you like to do? ( ) Install A Printer (.) Update Repair Softward ( ) Install Additional Software ----- I chose to update repair software then it started "Installing Software" and then this dialog came up: ----- Congratulations Your printer is now connected! [Print test page] ---- I connected the printer with the USB cable and clicked to print the test page. Nothing happened. *In the meantime this dialog had also appeared:* ----- Microsoft Windows Printer Communication System stopped working and was closed A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available ----- Is this problem known to v305 users, or should I ask the question in a Vista forum?

After resting for a couple of months, I tried to install again the printer. Now I have some more specific results: I inserted the USB cable from the printer to the computer: Found new hardware - Insert disk that came ect. I inserted the disc: Dell v305 installation Welcome Next (.) I agree Install additional software [ ] install ink management system to order ink Next Installing software Select connection type (.) USB connection Connect your printer (.) connect USB cable now (it was already connected!) it may take a moment for the computer to recognize your printer after you connect the cable The Next remains grayed out for a long time! I click the Safely remove hardware and remove the cable. I tried to plug the cable at another USB port with same results. I click the x to close the installation. Are you sure you want to exit installateion? Yes! The installation icon at the taskbar says: your device is ready to use! I insert the again cable. Of course the Savely remove hardwae icon appears! I try to print a text document from the notepad. Some time passes. Then these 2 dialogs appear: Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library Program C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\W23X86\3\dldtPSWX.EXE This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unbusual way, Please contact the application's support team for more information, Microsoft Windows jPrinter status window interface has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Unfortunately it didn't work. I had reached a dialog: Connect Your Printer (.) Connect USB Cable Now It may take a moment for the computer to recognize your printer after you connect the cable. The [Next] continues to be gray for several minutes... Now when I connect the USB cable the printer wakes up but the computer says it cannot find it. The things I suspect may have gotten wrong are: 1. I had problems after installing the optional R170196.exe driver. How do I remove it? 2. I have the installation disc but cannot find the written directions that came with it. Can I download them from somewhere? 3. I have refilled the black cartridge (and during the installation I did not install the ink meter) and the printer has been thinking it is out of alignment. When, however, i copy something it comes out OK. Could this interfere with the connection? Thanks.

I had temporary use of a wireless network and so connected the v305 printer through it. No I want to connect again trough a USB cable. Problem is my Inspiron (Vista Home Basic) somehow thinks it's connected to a USB Mass Storage Device - Drive(F:), and do not recognize it. How I can print again through a UBS cable? Should I uninstall and reinstall the printer? If yes, please provide relevant information. Thanks.
