<p>I am an Aerospace Toolmaker by trade. I have over 35 years of experience fabricating, reworking and maintaining Aerospace Production Assembly Jigs, Fixtures, and related Tooling.</p> <p>I started out using optical transits and levels, then to electronic theodolites and now operate laser trackers. These changes in technology has also changed the toolmakers scope of duties. With C.A.D. model based designing of both the air-frame and assembly tooling has brought about the the need to be able to build and inspect to the C.A.D. model. CMM's and Laser Trackers now use the same Mastercam software that is used to program modern 5, 4 and 3 axis machinery used to fabricate the production parts. This requires the toolmaker to be able to use this software to fabricate tools with laser trackers.</p> <p>With each new version of Mastercam released comes a requirement for upgrading  computers to run the software, which brings me to this community forum.</p>
