Kevin Brown serves Dell in the capacity of vice president and chief procurement officer. In this role, he oversees the company’s strategic procurement and supply chain-related initiatives to help propel Dell’s growth and foster and solidify its reputation as a leading global systems and services company. Prior to this role, Kevin led a global team charged with planning and directing Dell’s supply chain strategies and spearheading the company’s relationships with ODM partners. In addition, he was responsible for retail operations, supplier quality and new-product launch readiness within the supply chain. Kevin joined Dell in 1998 and has served in leadership roles for the company’s Product Group and Worldwide Procurement organizations. He also helped lead manufacturing operations at Dell’s Penang, Malaysia; Nashville, Tennessee; and Austin, Texas manufacturing and fulfillment facilities. Prior to joining Dell, Kevin worked for more than a decade in the U.S. shipbuilding industry. An active community leader, Kevin’s leadership extends beyond Dell to his work with several philanthropic, civic and non-profit organizations. In 2007 he was named to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) board of directors, supporting the CBCF’s work to broaden and elevate the influence of African Americans in the political, legislative, and public policy arenas through Dell-supported initiatives such as the CBCF’s Avoice web site, which captures African Americans’ contribution to the U.S. politics and public policy. He is a member of the board of directors for the Dell Foundation and Lifeworks and is a past board member of the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area. Kevin also is an executive leader for BRIDGE, Dell’s African-American employee networking group. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and Masters in Engineering Management from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
