SQL - Maximum degree of Parallelism

Hi,

What is the common practice from Dell Wyse vWorkspace standpoint regarding this SQL setting? It could boost performance as I have understood it correctly.

More information here > support.microsoft.com/.../2806535

"The Microsoft SQL Server max degree of parallelism (MAXDOP) configuration option controls the number of processors that are used for the execution of a query in a parallel plan. This option determines the computing and thread resources that are used for the query plan operators that perform the work in parallel."

Hello Maarten,

Maxdop set to 0 (Which I believe it is by default) works for most people.

How many processors do you have on your SQL box?

Thanks, Andrew.

This should not be a concern with only 2 processors. This is for when you have a lot of processors and want to limit the execution to a number lower than the maximum.

The SQL server has 2 vCPU's.
