ThinShell 2.5.3 not logging into Windows 8.1 VDI

I am setting up ThinShell 2.5.3 on some older Windows 7 PCs. This is on an AD domain using fully patched vWorkspace 8.5 (Connector 8.5.308.2004). Attempting to install ThinShell 2.5.3 results in an error that states the connector was not detected on the PC.

I then uninstalled that version and installed the 8.5.308.1991 connector. Then attempted to install ThinShell 2.5.3 again. It succesfully installed.

I setup ThinShell in Native Mode, set EnableKerberos to True, and EnableSSO to True. When users log on to the PC ThinShell launches the VDI. It connects but then stops at the log on screen for Windows 8.1. The users have to again enter their credentials and log onto the VDI. If the user already has a VDI session but is just disconnected, logging onto the ThinShell PC logs them all the way to the desktop.

I have also uninstalled the connector and then installed the 8.5.308.2004 (without messing with ThinShell). The results are the same.

Hi,

I think it is because you have enabled EnableKerberos and EnableSSO.  EnableSSO will enable cached credentials and you don't need this enabled at the same time as EnableKerberos.  It sounds like you want to use Kerberos so please try setting EnableSSO to false.

I would also recommend you use the configurator.. http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/virtualization/vworkspace/b/vworkspace-blog/archive/2013/10/17/thinshell-configurator-2-0

Cheers

Paul

Hello,

It sounds like kerberos is not working properly.

Can you check the steps in the following KB solution as they should help?

https://support.software.dell.com/vworkspace/kb/104116

Thanks

Mike
