Sudden decrease in gaming performance!!
hi i have a xps 15 laptop with i5 processor 2.5ghz, 6gb ram and nvidia graphics card geforce gt 540m.
i used to play games like fifa12 and skyrim in decent quality and the speed and graphics of the games were good.
suddenly one day i try to play the same games in the same graphics settings my games are now much slower. i dont know what happened.
my laptop is like 4 months old and i did dell diagnostic test and it showed no problems (note: in diagnostic test dell only checked my intel hd graphics card, i think)
so i dont know what to do. please any help will be much appreciated.

thanks for the reply but it is not any adapter problem
On the 24th August my laptop became very slow and when I checked the performance in Task Manager it was running at 95% physical memory. Shutting down processes not in use didn't change anything.
I ran AV / malware etc all to no avail. I then noticed that the Dell Support software had updated on the same day. I uninstalled it and my laptop is now back to it's normal running.
I think there is an issue with their update that keeps looping and using up physical memory.
Check to see if it has updated on your machine too!!

i dont think i have this problem, even with the support center running my physical memory usage was only about 30%, but i did like you said i tried to see weather it was updated and couldnt find out so i uninstalled dell support center but still the games are running slow. thanks for the reply though.

come on any one help needed, i am very frustrated with dell
Since you are 100% sure that neither overheating problems nor the power adapter are the problem try Windows "Built-In System Restore".
You should have a couple of restore points - choose one which was created before you had the problems.
Click Start button and type "system restore" "without quotation marks) hit "Enter" follow the instructions

Did you experience any power adapter problems?
Press "F2" at powerup and check the power adapter status. Is it properly recognized ?
In case you are wondering why this should affect the speed of your system:
If the adapter is not recognized by the BIOS the system will be slowed down to reduce power consumption in case somebody is using an adapter that might not be able to cope with high currents.
