The XPS 13 has a unique 3‐sided InfinityEdge display, virtually borderless, with only 5.2mm of a border on the top and sides of the display. The unique design enables us to cleverly fit a 13.3 inch display into the size of an 11‐inch laptop.In the new XPS 15, we’ve also introduced the first InfinityEdge bezel in a 15-inch laptop. Its bezel is only 5.7mm thin, and enables it to be the smallest 15-inch on the planet, the size of a 14-inch laptop.

  1. Notebook screens are measured diagonally from the corners; this usually does not include the bezel, as with many desktop monitors.
  2. The physical number of columns and rows of pixels creating the display. For example, a 1366x768 display has 1366 horizontal pixels on 768 lines. The more pixels you have, the higher the resolution, which means that more detail can be displayed on the screen.
  3. The amount of light emitted from the display. This is also known as luminance and is measured in nits or candela per square meter. A Dell consumer laptop display brightness emits from 200 nits up to 300 nits. A 300-nit display is up to 50 percent brighter than a 200-nit display.
  4. The maximum angle at which a display can be viewed with acceptable visual performance. A standard viewing angle offers 80º horizontally and 45º vertically, while wide viewing angles offer 110º horizontally and 90º vertically.
  5. The ratio of the intensity of the brightest bright to the darkest dark.
  6. Color Gamut (Typical) is based on CIE 1976 (85%) and CIE 1931 (72%) test standards.
  7. The form of illumination used in an LCD display. Currently, WLED and B+RG LED are backlights used in XPS laptops. Backlights help determine the brightness and color gamut of the notebook.

Color Gamut:
Color gamut is a measure of how many colors can be represented on a display. The higher the color gamut, the more colors represented, making color more rich and saturated. While no display can come close to what is seen with the human eye, a 100% color gamut panel is the best available in PC display. When a panel is 100% color gamut, it’s typically described as Adobe RGB. The XPS 15 4K Ultra HD display is factory color measured and color coordinates are saved onto the panel so you can reproduce color accurately. They are vivid, show more shades, higher saturation and more colorfulness. The user sees a more pleasant, colorful and accurate image. The XPS 15 and Precision 5510 are the only laptops that are true 100% minimum Adobe RGB, meaning the panel can represent all color in the Adobe color space without compromise. Professionals are able to get a full color representation of their content in the field - they can take a photo with an RGB setting on their camera, use Adobe software, and see that image on their display with exactly the same colors represented. 

Dell PremierColor Software:
For content that is not already in Adobe RGB format, like a web-page or movie, Dell PremierColor Software remaps the colors easily so you are able to see them accurately on your screen. So you can be sure you are seeing the true color of paint, a dress, a sofa, etc. when shopping online, or seeing a movie as the director intended.

High Brightness:
A laptop with high brightness is easy to see when using outdoors & prefect for watching movies or web surfing. A 400-nit panel, found on most XPS laptops, is up to 100% brighter than a typical laptop panel (200-nit).

Wide Viewing Angles:
Wider viewing angles allow for collaboration & sharing content, since your display can be viewed clearly from almost any angle.View your display from different angles and be treated to the same vivid, life-like images with great color consistency.

High Contrast Ratio:
A high, contrast ratio enables you to see whites as the brightest they can be, and dark colors, like black, the darkest they can be. Select XPS products are 1200:1 contrast ratio.

Multi-Touch: 
Navigation made easy. A panel with multi-touch allows users to interact with their multimedia by directly touching the computer LCD, minimizing the need for a keyboard, touch pad or mouse. A touch screen is a more natural way to interact with your PC. You have the freedom to just touch the screen and manipulate directly. Plus, it is a more collaborative experience — no fighting over the mouse or who has control of the screen. And two people can interact with one application at the same time, with up to ten-finger-touch functionality. 

Edge-to-edge Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™:
Edge-to-edge hardened Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ is bonded to aluminum for a very rigid panel design. It is impeccably strong and aesthetically pleasing. Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT™ has up to 10x higher scratch resistance compared to soda lime glass, resulting in greater resistance to unsightly scratches caused by handling, cleaning or wiping.

Anti-Reflective Coating
Get the beautiful gloss of the touchscreen without the glare; an ideal mobile experience when you’re outdoors
An anti-reflective coating is a multi-layer coating to reduce reflections and provide best customer experience. Most of the portable devices with cover glass have light reflections coming from the internal layers of the display assembly which is due to multi-layer glass structure. Due to this fact, the performance of the device is reduced under high ambient light conditions. By applying this multi-layer AR coating, the internal reflections can be reduced and experience enhanced.
