      Define your “as-is” and “to-be” states
      Mock-up your current multi-cloud architecture, identifying and categorizing any issues. Determine the strategic vision for your “to-be” state, depicting target workload deployments, planned cloud services, and environmental connectivity.

      Gauge your teams’ cloud readiness
      Discuss the different stakeholders impacted by cloud adoption, and how to build around their strengths using familiar tools and processes. Work to align IT and developers or end-users around common goals.

      Below is how you can determine the future of your applications, ensuring that business and app requirements guide your decisions. 

      1. Start by looking at immediate needs and any occurring triggering events to prioritize applications for cloud migration. In some cases, migrating a workload makes sense because it simply increases the application’s value. 

      2. You can rewrite into a cloud application; re-platform, or “containerize” the application; rehost the application, moving it as is; repurchase as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS); retain the application as-is; or retire if the application is surplus.

      3. As you have decided the application’s future, the opportunity to introduce new infrastructure and consumption models becomes clear. Familiarize yourself with their requirements, benefits and limitations.
