It started somewhat small, here in Austin, TX, in the 1980s; but, rapidly expanded and became international scale within a few short years. It’s continued to grow and diversify to meet the evolving needs of those it serves and today there are few people who haven’t at least heard of it.

Sounds like Dell, right? It certainly shares similarities with the story of how our company grew from Michael’s idea on The University of Texas at Austin campus. But, this is a storyline we share with another successful organization that has helped put Central Texas on the map – South by Southwest, or as it’s more commonly known, SXSW.

And when an event of this magnitude takes place in your own backyard, you simply can’t miss it! That’s why you’ll find Dell integrated throughout the SXSW festivals next month, from the first day of SXSWedu, March 6, to the last man standing at SXSW Music on March 18.

SXSW says their original goal was “to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas.” Our goal is to provide the technology solutions those creative professionals need whether their medium is music, film or the internet.

So all of you thinkers, dreamers, founders and doers coming to Austin for SXSW, we welcome you to our hometown. Check out the additional posts linked here to find out exactly what we’ve got planned. Follow the hashtag #DellSXSW on Twitter to get real-time updates.

Want to come work for Dell? We’ve even got recruiters who will be at the SXSW Tech Career Expo who would love to meet you!

Want to get your hands on a Dell product while you’re here in Austin? You will see Dell products at registration and information tables, and a variety of other places, but the real experience awaits at our tradeshow booth, where you can actually purchase one to take home – much more useful for powering your next big hit than a piece of shwag!
