Dell Technologies Teams Come Together to Go Big

With the closing of the deal to combine Dell, EMC and VMware, Dell Technologies officially opened its doors on September 7, 2016, but for team members like me, what really sealed it was our first worldwide event held this week.

And when I say worldwide, I don’t use that term loosely. Dell Technologies equals 140,000 team members serving customers of all sizes across 180 countries – ranging from 98 percent of the Fortune 500 to individual consumers – with the industry’s most comprehensive and innovative portfolio from the edge to the core to the cloud. 

Working behind the scenes managing our internal live blog of the event, I got to see photos, tweets and Instagram posts from India, France, Belgium, Ireland, Dubai, South Africa, Mexico, Panama and more. The rallying cry throughout our celebration was ‘Go Big, Win Big’ – and the excitement was infectious. Just check the #GoBigWinBig to see what I mean.

“We stand at the very beginning of the Internet of Everything, an intelligent world pulsing with processing power and connectivity,” Michael Dell told the pumped-up crowds live in Austin and via simulcast around the globe. “The next Industrial Revolution… the next quantum leap in human progress.” 

In advance of this celebration of the “biggest technology merger in history” more than 7,600 employees in China, India, Ireland and Texas banded together to create human versions of the letters comprising the Dell logo. Near our Texas headquarters, more than 2,100 employees formed the letter “E” setting a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people ever to create a human letter. Guinness World Record officials were on site to validate and record the achievement. 

Jeremy Burton, Chief Marketing Officer at Dell also announced this week that Dell World, coming up very soon on October 18th, is now officially Dell World.

“And expect to hear about a host of new products  – we’re kicking our innovation engine into high gear and will be showing you how to modernize your data center and transform IT,” he said.

Wearing a Cork jersey inscribed with his name on the back, Jeff Clarke (above) celebrated the deal close with our Irish team members commenting that “The Dell team is making me feel right at home here in Cork.” 

Dell Technologies is a unique family of businesses that provides the essential infrastructure for organizations to build their digital future, transform IT and protect their most important asset, information. I know from the excitement and the camaraderie I saw at this week’s event our team members are really looking forward to bringing it all to life for our customers.
