At Dell, we’re celebrating today’s Commonwealth Day for a very special reason; it marks the official countdown to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, an incredible event supported by Dell technology.
Taking place in Glasgow from 23 July to 3 August 2014, Glasgow 2014 will be the biggest sporting event ever hosted by Scotland and will feature 17 sports, play host to 4500 athletes and provide venues for 1,000,000 spectators from around the world.
As the Official IT Hardware and Data Centre Supporter of the Games, Dell will be giving Glasgow 2014 ‘the power to do more’ with 1,500 desktops, 200 laptops, and approximately 60 servers and storage solutions, across 40 competition and non-competition venues. We’re thrilled to play a role in building the technology that will fuel the preparations and enable the games to run flawlessly over the course of the 11 days of the games.
Dell’s support of the Games is a powerful example of our belief that technology really can help people to achieve more. From connecting athletes, volunteers and officials from around the globe, to supporting business critical functions such as ticketing and video graphics, our IT solutions will provide the reliability and support needed to ensure that everyone involved – the fans, volunteers, athletes and officials will have the best games experience possible.
And we’re not just providing our IT hardware and data centre solutions – Dell will also be getting involved in bringing the Games to life in the lead-up to Glasgow 2014 through community involvement, volunteering and more, so stay tuned for more details!
For our business customers, we’ll be hosting a number of events designed to showcase how the technology used during the Games can benefit their own organisations. For the first of these events, we’ll be joined on March 12th by Murray Husband, General Manager of Information Technology Services for Glasgow 2014, to talk about the benefits of Dell Fluid Data combined with complete Data Management Solutions Click here to register today.
The countdown is on! With less than 500 days to go before the Games begin, we’re excited to support such an amazing event and look forward to playing our part in making Glasgow 2014 the most memorable Games yet!
