Dell Wyse and some of its most inspiring customers gathered on Monday night, June 4, 2012 in Washington, DC as part of the annual Computerworld Honors Awards ceremony. The Computerworld Honors program recognizes those institutions using IT for the advancement of social, economic and educational change.
Seattle Children’s Hospital was a finalist in the Emerging Technology category for its Citrix-based private cloud and its use of the Dell Wyse Xenith zero client. Up to 45 minutes per day of medical staff time has been saved thanks to the virtual desktop and private cloud from Citrix and Dell Wyse. Medical staff can treat patients faster, provide better healthcare and the icing on the cake is that this initiative will save the organization $6 million in hardware, $1.2 million in staff time, and $1 million in energy costs over a five-year period of time.
Other Dell Wyse customers that received Laureate status were City of Rogers, Arkansas for its mobile, virtual computing environment for emergency workers, and Loveland Public Library for its digital access initiative that has helped the unemployed find jobs.
Lastly, a handful of Dell Wyse customers received the Global Vision award from Tarkan Maner, Vice President and General Manager: Franklin-McKinley School District, IlliniCloud, Loveland Public Library and Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Congratulations to all the winners, finalists and Laureates who were recognized last night and inspired us all. We’d love to hear from Dell Wyse customers if you have a humanitarian IT story to share with us. Contact us at adarin@wyse.com.
