STEM Aspire: How to empower female students for IT

STEM Aspire derives from our wider diversity and inclusion priority to advance Dell Technologies as an industry leader for women.

Future Leaders & Stem Aspire

I’m delighted to share my involvement with STEM Aspire, which is a mentoring program aimed at females in higher education from the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The program initiated in Cork (Ireland) in 2016, and has expanded in other countries like the UK and Spain

Through challenging preconceptions, encouraging women into STEM and working collaboratively with educational institutions, Dell Technologies can demonstrate what is possible to drive positive change within the industry.

The STEM Aspire program derives from our wider diversity and inclusion priority to advance Dell Technologies employment strategy as an industry leader for women.

The objective of the programme is to develop their skills and confidence to facilitate their education and career journeys.

Invest in confidence and networking will be crucial for them in the future and mentoring them on how to get there is a big part of my mentoring focus

The enthusiasm and creative thinking of our mentees make this journey fulfilling for mentors as well.

Structure of the Program

The program is divided into several phases:

    1. Welcome Virtual Event: participants attend a welcome session where they meet their mentors and are introduced to the program plan.
    2. Mentoring Sessions: Students have regular meetings with their mentors to discuss their goals, challenges and progress.
    3. Networking: The students attend Dell Technologies events to give them a great baseline of how their future could be and meet people that could help them in their journey.

I am proud that Dell Technologies promotes this impactful program, and I am happy to be able to participate in this project.

It is very rewarding to be able to contribute in a way that these women can build their foundations and make them aware of how they will contribute for the next generations. We are in this together!
