Eliminate the concerns about not having enough time, budget or storage capacity to handle your backup needs. Easily shrink backup windows and storage requirements by deploying the Dell DR4300 Disk Backup Appliance — and avoid having to rip and replace your existing backup software. Purpose-built as deduplication target repositories, this reliable solution works with the backup applications you’re using today and can be quickly added to your data center to reduce backup storage needs by up to 15:1.
Backup-to-disk appliances are a great, cost-effective alternative to using tape or primary storage as your backup repository. Plus, you don’t have to worry about future costs because the all-inclusive, three year license means you’ll never have to pay for future releases or features such as accelerators, replication or encryption.
Based on the 13th-generation Dell PowerEdge servers, the DR4300 offers double the number of replica targets and memory over the previous model. It uses 2 or 4TB HDDs, which add up to 33% more capacity. The 2U rack-mounted system is available in raw capacities of 18 and 36 TB. You can expand capacity with up to two PowerVault MD1400 expansion shelves in 18, and 36 TB capacities, for a total of 108 TB usable (1.6PB logical) capacity.
Like other models in the Dell DR backup to disk series, the DR4300 provides inline deduplication and compression and includes DR Rapid: Dell’s plug-in technologies which improve the source deduplication ingest performance using OST, Rapid Data Access (RDA), Rapid CIFS and Rapid NFS protocols.
The appliance includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/)
Easily add the appliance to your existing backup and disaster recovery workflow with support for all the leading backup applications, including Dell’s NetVault Backup and vRanger, as well as those from CommVault, Veeam, Veritas and many others, you can continue to use what you have installed while reaping the benefits of reduced backup storage.
Increased cost savings
All-inclusive licensing reduces acquisition costs, while compression and deduplication technology significantly reduces data backup storage requirements up to 93 percent and replication bandwidth requirements by 15 times.
The DR4300 can reduce backup storage costs to as little as $0.16/GB. The license fee includes replication, backup ingest protocol accelerators (OST, RDA, Rapid NFS, and Rapid CIFS), and maintenance support for three years.
With ingest speeds up to 22 TB/hour (using RDA), you can easily meet your backup window and recovery time objectives.
Add more storage capacity on the fly and scale to support 1.62 PB of logical capacity with RAID 6 storage.
Simple to deploy and manage
This purpose-built backup solution is simple to install, deploy, and manage.
Support for VTL
Support legacy backup processes by sending workloads to disk as Virtual Tape Libraries (VTLs) using NDMP or iSCSI protocols.
Encrypt data at rest in-line or post process using industry-standard 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
Choice of source or target deduplication
RDA (part of Dell’s DR Rapid technology plug-ins) comes standard with the DR4300, allowing you to use source based deduplication (at the media server or backup server) to dramatically increase the ingest performance rate so backup jobs complete faster.
Advanced data protection
Built-inautomated and continuous data verification when writing data to disk helps ensure data recoverability.
Enhance disaster recovery with bi-directional, many-to-one replication, cascaded replication and replication seeding.
