Dell Software Kicks Off Day 1 at VMworld 2013

VMworld 2013 kicked off in San Francisco on Sunday night with an opening reception in the exhibit hall, providing a preview of what more than 20,000 expected attendees can see throughout the event.

Dell and VMware have a strong partnership, and are committed to working together to provide innovative services to customers. From the desktop to the data center to the cloud, Dell and VMware deliver end-to-end virtualized infrastructure solutions that help customers achieve a simplified, more efficient, flexible, cost-effective, service oriented IT environment.

Keeping a finger on the pulse of the market is vital to future strategy and development plans. Dell reps staffing the booth are excited to talk to customers and prospects to share information on their products, but also to learn about some of the challenges your organizations are facing. This helps us continue to meet our customers’ needs and requirements with efficient, effective, innovative solutions that help transform and grow businesses.

Dell is a Global Diamond sponsor, and has a large presence supporting its partnership with VMware. Dell is showcasing its end-to-end solutions, from hardware to services to software. Additionally, there will be a number of scheduled theatre presentations taking place throughout the event that feature Dell customers, partners and product experts. This year, the booth has been expanded to encompass a larger Dell Software presence. The header signage for the area reads “Performance Management. Backup and Restore. Cloud Management.” and features a number of Dell Software solutions, including:

  • Foglight
  • vRanger
  • NetVault
  • AppAssure
  • Multi-Cloud Manager (formerly Enstratius)

Here’s a quick overview of the Dell Software solutions that will be showcased at VMworld.  Be sure to visit us at Dell booth # 1219 to learn more.

Performance Management

Dell Software just released the next generation of its Foglight® Virtualization Operations Management.  The trio of products –  Foglight™ for Virtualization, Enterprise and Standard Editions 7.0 and Foglight™ for Storage Management 3.0 – help businesses address a number of data center transformation challenges – from optimizing performance and efficiency in your virtual environment to solving end-to-end storage and virtualization challenges in complex and cloud based systems.  Foglight APM will also be showcased and allows IT to see every step of a transaction for a complete picture of the end user’s experience with the application.

Backup and Restore

Without a data recovery solution in place, you could lose more than $5,000 a minute in downtime. NetVault addresses the needs of large IT environments, offering complete, reliable cross-platform protection for a wide range of platforms and applications.

AppAssure redefines backup and recovery with continuous protection and near-instant recovery of mission-critical data. AppAssure protects your workloads wherever they are – VM, physical or Cloud – and can recover from anywhere to anywhere.  The PowerVault DL4000 appliance, powered by AppAssure, allows you to deploy comprehensive data and application backup and recovery.  And the PowerVault DR4100 disk-based data protection appliance offers advanced de-duplication and compression capabilities to reduce the time and cost for backup and restore.

vRanger, Dell’s leading VMware data protection solution, provides comprehensive protection for both virtual and physical environments.  vRanger enables customers to tackle the complexity of VMware protection by offering an efficient and scalable way to back up, replicate, and recover virtualized and physical machines.

Cloud Management

Through the recent acquisition of Enstratius, Dell offers an enterprise cloud management solution – Dell Multi-Cloud Manager – that enables organizations to manage and deploy applications across more than 20 of the leading public and private clouds and cloud platforms, including VMware’s vSphere and vCloud offerings.

Services

Dell Services is also being represented in the Dell Software area of the booth, as a cross-functional organization that offers a broad range of services throughout the customer ecosystem.
