What is computer storage?
The storage drive is where your computer permanently saves documents, photos, music, videos, and other files.

The more storage you have, the more information your computer can hold.

We measure storage in gigabytes (GB) or terabytes (TB). A terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes.

How much storage is right for you?
Storage Best for...
4 TB or more Workloads that require immense storage, such asย  running and simulating large datasets. May be a large capacity disk or multiple disks arranged in RAID configuration for improved data integrity.
1 TB to 4 TB Having abundant storage for large digital libraries and professional-level content created in applications like Adobe Creative Suite.
512 GB Storing high-resolution images, large data libraries, and PowerPoint presentations.
256 GB Baseline storage for the operating system that can support typical office tasks, like word processing and building spreadsheets, internet browsing, and other basic functions.
What else do you need to know about storage?

  • A solid-state drive (SSD) is often used for primary "boot" storage. It has no moving parts and can start applications faster than a hard-disk drive (HDD), which uses spinning disks.
  • Some computers have dual drives. These combine the speed of an SSD with the cost effectiveness for larger storage you can get with an HDD.
  • Class 40 SSD: Includes Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) which improves speed, reduces latency, enhances endurance, and supports better overall performance of high-demand applications.
  • "RAID" storage combines multiple drives for improved performance and data security.
