What is computer memory (RAM)?
Random Access Memory, or RAM, temporarily stores data as your computer's "short term" memory. It helps provide quick access to whatever you're working on now.

More RAM makes your computer run faster when you edit documents, run applications, and browse the internet. We measure the amount of RAM in gigabytes (GB).

How much memory is right for you?
Memory Best forโ€ฆ
32 GB or more Multitasking between intensive applications, running high-end design and analytics software, other high-performance tasks.
16 GB Working across large files and editing complex photos or high-definition (HD) videos.
8 GB Editing documents, creating spreadsheets, browsing the web, and other general tasks.
What else do you need to know about memory?
RAM speed is measured in megatransfers per second, or MT/s. Faster RAM can store and retrieve more data per second, which can improve performance when you work on large files.
LPDDR5/DDR5 is the latest synchronous dynamic random-access memory that aims to increase memory bandwidth while keeping power consumption low in comparison with its predecessor, DDR4.
