In the ‘In the Spotlight’ series, Arnaud Bacros, Dell Technologies General Manager for Belgium and Luxembourg, talks with colleagues in the Belux organization. In this issue, Arnaud speaks with Adriaan Van Geyt, Belux Storage, Platforms and Solution Manager for Dell Technologies.
Adriaan Van Geyt observes that the digital transformation at Dell Technologies customers has sped up tremendously. The trend was already there but got extra momentum when everyone started working from home during the pandemic – and still needed access to all applications and resources. The value of IT is experienced differently now compared to a few years ago.
When we look back in time, there are parallels in history. The introduction of 4G was the catalyst for an explosive data growth, and in addition, Big Data and Software Defined emerged. The data growth made adjusting the IT architectures a necessity.
This time too we see that new mobile networks, thanks to the 5G roll-out, and technologies such as AI and IoT will cause an enormous data growth from the core to the edge. This will only work well with a distributed cloud, in combination with a unified control place, otherwise the data will be unmanageable.
