Our People | Nikki

Meet NikkiWhen did you join EMC and what roles have you held in your time here?

I joined in March 2009 as a UK SE team member looking after core RSA SE products. In 2011 when we acquired Archer I then moved into Governance Risk and Compliance and just recently I was promoted to Manager where I manage a team of systems engineers throughout our Europe/Middle East/Africa region.

What inspires you about our culture?

It’s inclusive and very open. People here are encouraged to try new things, come up with new ideas, make mistakes and grow from them. We have a culture that thrives on and open and inclusive dialogue that puts our partners and customers first.

Are you a member of any affinity circles at EMC? What role have you played and/or how have you benefitted from them?

I just recently joined the Women’s Leadership Forum and I’m really looking forward to getting to know more people, what they do and growing my network. I’m participating in the Managing Success Now program in May and am very excited to hear from our female leaders within the business. I have worked with individuals in the Global Services Associate Program in the past and have seen much success from these individuals. I have also been involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) events encouraging women to pursue careers in our field with talks at university and colleges which I think is great.

What makes you excited about the future possibilities of Dell?

I feel that we will be well equipped to scale the business and our reach, particularly when you look at where Dell excels. We will be able to take products to market that are built around a partner first mentality. It affords us the benefits of treating our customers’ right. Customers love our products -- according to the NPS (Net Promoter Scores), EMC has some of the highest score in any organization and together with Dell I believe the opportunities can only expand.

What do you think people interested in working here need to know?

That we are fast paced and fast moving. Things are always changing and change is exciting. This is not a stagnant organization and people need to be able to adapt to that. You also have to love the technology. You will have the opportunity to work across different groups and teams and challenge the status quo. You need to be able to draw on experience here and gain new ideas.

What role have you played in helping your customers grow and thrive?

Internally I have been able to help people realize their potential. I have helped junior colleagues become comfortable with being uncomfortable and challenge themselves. Externally, I feel that by delivering upon and exceeding expectations, we have been able to really keep the customers satisfied. The business transformation has helped everyone adapt and manage risk. We have been able to help change the culture and deliver technology unlike any other to our customers with our philosophy of “inspiring everyone to own risk”.

What makes this a great place to work?

Perfection is the enemy of execution. We are encouraged to do things differently everyday though trial and error until we get it right. Everyone is here to win and therefore it is amazing what you can achieve together.
