How Do I Configure My Dellnet E-mail Service for My Dell WebPC? - Technical Tip - 147728

These are the Configuration instructions for the DellNet™ E-mail Service for the Dell™ WebPC™.


To determine if the e-mail client was configured properly, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click the Outlook® Express icon on the Desktop.
  2. Click Tools | Accounts... from the menu bar. (Figure 1)

  3. Click the Mail tab. An account should be shown in the window. (Figure 2)

If there is an account present:

  1. Highlight the account and click Properties.
  2. Verify that the User Information is correct. (Figure 3)

  3. Click on the Servers tab and verify that the server information is correct. (Figure 4)

    NOTE: Figure 4 is an example, only. You can view the correct User Information (including server names and passwords) by clicking Start | Programs | Dellnet | Dellnet Administration. Click Next, and Next again, then it will connect to Dellnet. On the resulting Dellnet Self-Administration page, put a checkmark in View my Account Information and then click Next. It will ask for the challenge phrase and then bring up the information.

If there is no account present:

If the information is not correct, or if the account information is not present, you can have the system configure itself.

  1. Click Start | Programs | Dellnet | Dellnet Administration.
  2. Click Next, and Next again.
  3. On the resulting Dellnet Self-Administration page, put a checkmark in Make My Changes Take Effect and click Next. (Figure 5)

  4. Answer the challenge phrase and click Next.
  5. When it is done downloading, click the Finish button.

The system should now be configured to send and receive e-mail.
