1. Retail Registration

If you purchased your Dell product from a retail store (not directly from Dell), you don’t need to transfer your product; you need to register your product.

Dell recommends that you register and/or transfer your Dell Product to ensure your access to warranty services and other Dell ownership benefits like exclusive offers and rewards.

This will also allow you to access Dell's help and support more readily should you encounter any problems with your system

Please go to www.dell.com/register and complete the required details

Note: For some Amazon purchases and eBay (or similar sites in your region) customers must follow the ownership transfer steps in the corresponding sections.

By purchasing your product directly from Dell your system is automatically registered.

3. Ownership Transfer

***Warranty Service May Be Declined If Ownership Cannot Be Confirmed***

There are two main reasons to change the original registered ownership information:

  • Ownership has changed - you’ve recently purchased or obtained a used Dell product
  • System has been permanently relocated or moved to another country

For Permanently Relocated Systems (6 months or more), the service contract purchased for a system at point of sale (POS) is valid in the country in which the system was purchased.

Dell will transfer the service contract, providing Dell is advised of the relocation, and that the service is available in the destination location, Return to Depot, Complete Care, Same Day, and Parts Only contracts are not always available for transfer outside of the region the coverage was purchased in; please review your contract agreement purchased for more information.

  1. From the Support Website: www.dell.com/support/home select your country at the bottom of the page. Then click on Support from the top banner, then Warranty and Support Services and then Ownership Transfer from the menu.

  2. On the Warranty and Ownership Transfer page, select how many products you are transferring, either a Single product or Up to five products.

    • For a single product, either manually enter your Service Tag or use the Detect Your Product button, then click on the Continue button.

    • If you wish to add up to five Service Tags, enter the tag manually and then press the Add Another button until you have added up to five tags. When ready press Continue.

  1. Links to "Other types of transfers" are listed under the Continue button, these are:

    • Bulk transfers (more than five)Retail Registration

    • Compellent and Force10 products

    • EqualLogic products

    • Other Products

  2. Fill in as much of the Previous Owner Details as possible.

    Note:
    • If the system was purchased from Amazon directly, i.e. - "Sold by Amazon" you should follow the Retail Registration process above.

    • For Amazon Marketplace and eBay put that in the for the First Name and Last Name fields.

    • Someone from Dell may contact you via email to clarify the information you have supplied and may ask for a proof of purchase to allow the transfer to be processed.

Depending on the system type you may be asked to enter a Company Name.

If the field you are trying to fill is NOT "optional", and you do not have the information, enter "Unknown" only to allow you to continue with the form. For the Postal or Zip code if not known, enter "99999"

Note: Incomplete or Incorrect details will cause a delay in processing your request and may result in a denial of the ownership transfer.
  1. Complete the New Owner Details. Then press Continue

  2. A Review page appears which allows you to check your details and allows you to edit any errors before continuing.

  3. Before pressing Continue you will have to tick the box to say that you have read and agreed to the Terms and Conditions.

  4. The final page is the confirmation page, if you require you can press the Transfer Another Product button to transfer more systems if required
