Note: This device does not provide power to the system. You will need an AC adapter that is connected to both the system and the dock for normal operation.

The Dell Docking Station USB 3.0 is a compact device that allows you to link several other electronic devices to your laptop using one single USB 3.0 cable. Connecting a laptop to the docking station provides that laptop with access to peripherals such as the printer, mouse, keyboard, etc… without having to plug each into the laptop (Figure 1 & 2).

1. Audio Combo – Used to connect headphones or microphone.
2. USB 3.0 x 2 – Allows connection to other devices using a USB cable.
3. USB 3.0 – Allows connection to devices that require extra power using a USB cable.
4. Power LED – Identifies that the Dell Docking Station USB 3.0 is powered on.

Note: The Dell Docking Station-USB 3.0 can be used with any system. However, it is best suited for systems that do not have enough ports.

One of the most asked questions about this device is: "What are the supported resolutions on the Dell D3100 USB 3.0 Docking Station for both DisplayPort (DP) and High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connections?"

Supported Resolutions

The Dell D3100 USB 3.0 Docking Station can support maximum resolution of:

• Display Port 1.1 = 3840x2160 @ 30 Hz
• HDMI 1.4 = 2560x1440 @ 50 Hz

Note: The D3100 docking station does not support DP1.2. Due to this, it does not work with Multi-Stream Transport (MST also known as Daisy Chain) functionality.

Note: The D3100 docking station does not support DP1.2 so you cannot achieve 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz resolution.

Note: Both the Dell U2515H and U2715H displays work with this dock but only at 50 Hz. 60 Hz refresh rate is not available with these displays.
