Microsoft® iSCSI Sessions Getting Disconnected From the Target NX1950

Microsoft® Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) initiator times out when connected to a Dell PowerVault NX1950.

Microsoft® iSCSI sessions are getting disconnected from the target NX1950 under some circumstances.


Adjust the Default Timeout Values for the Microsoft® iSCSI Initiator

This can be done manually by entering it into the registry, as follows:

Registry changes as follows:

  1. Click Start and select Run
  2. Type Regedit on the prompt and click OK
  3. There is a tree on the left pane in registry editor, navigate through it until you get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Disk
  4. After selecting Disk on the left pane, the right pane will get populated
  5. Double click on the TimeOutValue in the right pane
  6. In the Edit DWORD Value screen, select the Decimal radio button. The default value data should show 61
  7. Select the OK button after typing 160 instead on the Value data area
  8. Close the registry editor at this point, the changes will have been made successfully
  9. Reboot the client(s) box at this point
