This article provides information on the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 PIN logon feature not working on systems with the Dell Encryption software installed.
On a computer with Dell Encryption installed, the PIN logon feature within Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 may not be available. Windows will still ask for a password when logging in, even after successfully following the steps to create the PIN for logon. This has been reported with both the Dell Encryption and the Dell Data Protection | Security Tools versions of this software.
The PIN logon feature appears to not meet the security requirements of the Dell Encryption software. Uninstalling the Dell Encryption software will allow the PIN to be created and successfully used for logon, but this will remove the data encryption functionality of the Dell Encryption software and is not recommended.
