How do I use the Dell Branded Projector Ceiling Mount Kit? - Training Information - 271852




Ceiling Mount Kit Overview

The standard ceiling mount allows you to put your Dell projector out-of-sight with reliable security. It is ideal for holding your projector safely and firmly to the ceiling. The kit has adjustments for roll, pitch, yaw and methods for quick disconnection.

Notice:
To ensure proper functionality of the projector, ensure there are no objects/enclosures blocking the projector vents. Be sure to provide adequate ventilation and avoid excessively dusty areas which may clog the vents.


Caution:
Because of the wide variety of possible mounting situations, Dell can only provide general guidelines for installation. Be especially aware of the weight of the equipment, and the potential for personal injury or of damage to the equipment it it is not adequately mounted.

Connect the universal projector mount to the projector interface plate.

To connect the universal projector mount to the Dell-branded projector interface plate, perform the following steps:

  1. Using three M3 X 16mm flat head screws and nylon spacers, secure the projector interface plate to your projector. (Figure 1)

  2. Loosen the 10-24 thumb nuts, and slide the universal projector mount over the interface plate by aligning the slots with the thumb nuts.(Figure 2)

  3. Tighten the 10-24 thumb nuts. (Figure 2)



Adjusting and Attaching the Ceiling Column to the Mount

To connect the ceiling column to the mount, perform the following steps:

  1. Adjust the column to the appropriate length. (Figure 1)
  2. Place the security bolt through the column hole and attach the locking nut to secure the bolt. (Figure 1)
  3. Screw the ceiling column to the projector mount until the column is securely tightened. (Figure 1)
  4. Tighten the set bolt to secure the column. (Figure 1)

Adjust the pitch on the mounting plate.

To adjust the pitch, perform the following:

  1. Loosen the pitch adjustment screw located on each end of the mount.
  2. Adjust the projector angle to desired pitch. (Figure 1)

  3. Tighten the two pitch adjustment screws.



Adjust the roll.

To adjust the roll on the Dell-branded projector, perform the following:

  1. Loosen the roll adjustment screw show facing and the screw directly opposite.
  2. Adjust the projector to desired roll. (Figure 1)

  3. Tighten the roll adjustment screw.



Adjust the Yaw

  1. Loosen the set screw.

  2. Adjust the projector by turning the mount around the threads to the position you want (Figure 2).

  3. Tighten the set screw.
Caution:
Do NOT turn the mount to the end of the threads. The mount, plate, and projector will fall from the pipe if the mount is unthreaded too far.

Notice:
Over tightening the set screw may damage threads and make adjusting the yaw difficult. Make sure the appropriate yaw adjustment is set before tightening the set screw.



Optional Security Kit Installation

The security kit will keep your projector and mount securely attached to the ceiling column.

To install the security kit, perform the following:

  1. Remove the standard 5/16" set screw and replace it with the 5/16" security screw. (Figure 1)
  2. Remove one screw from each corner from the bottom of the projector interface plate and replace with the two M3 x 16mm security flat head screws. (Figure 1)
  3. Remove the two #10-24 x .25" screws and replace with the two #10-24 x .25" security flat head screws. (Figure 1)
  4. Remove the standard M3 x 16mm flat head screws and replace with the M3 x 16mm security flat head screws. (Figure 1)
