Troubleshooting 093-919 / 093-920 / 093-921 / 093-922: YMCK Toner Low Density Errors on the E525w Dell Laser Printer



NOTE: Before changing any settings, the printer should be cleaned with the cleaning wand. For more information, refer to the User Guide for this model.

Adjust the Altitude Setting:

When the E525W Dell Laser Printer is presenting a Toner Low Density error, this may be due to the altitude affecting the toner density inside of the printer during calibration and operation. An incorrect altitude setting leads to poor printing quality, and an incorrect indication of remaining toner.

The printer ships with the altitude default set at 0 meters, this amount needs to be adjusted when the printer is used at higher altitudes.

  1. On the Operator Panel on the printer, press the menu button.
  2. Press the down arrow until System is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  3. Press the down arrow until Admin is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  4. Press the down arrow until Maintenance is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  5. Press the down arrow until Adjust Altitude is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  6. Press the down arrow until the correct Altitude for the location of the printer is highlighted and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  7. Turn the printer off, wait 15 seconds and then turn the print back on.
NOTE:
  • When you cannot access the menus on the Operator Panel due to the error, perform the following steps.
    • Turn the printer off and remove the toner cartridge color that corresponds to the error, turn the printer back on and try again.
    • Access the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool to change the Altitude. The setting is located under Printer Settings (located on the left-hand side) and on the Printer Maintenance tab.
    • Launch the Tool Box, and click Environmental Sensor Info on the Printer Maintenance tab and then click Adjust Altitude.
  • ◦When after adjusting the altitude setting and restarting the printer, the error continues, update the firmware on your printer. For more information refer to the next section "Update the Firmware for Your Printer".

Update the Firmware for Your Printer:

Refer to Dell Printer Uninstalling, Downloading and Installing Printer Drivers, Software, Manuals and Firmware .

NOTE: When you cannot update the firmware due to the error, turn the printer off and remove the toner cartridge color that corresponds to the error, turn the printer back on and try again.

Clean Developer:

When the error persists, you can also use the Clean Developer setting.

  1. On the Operator Panel on the printer, press the menu button.
  2. Press the down arrow until System is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  3. Press the down arrow until Admin is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  4. Press the down arrow until Maintenance is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  5. Press the down arrow until Clean Developer is highlighted, and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  6. Press the down arrow until the Yes is highlighted and then press the checkmark (Set) button.
  7. Turn the printer off, wait 15 seconds and then turn the print back on.
NOTE:
  • When you cannot access the menus on the Operator Panel due to the error, perform the following steps.
    • Turn the printer off and remove the toner cartridge color that corresponds to the error, turn the printer back on and try again.
    • Access the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool to use the Clean Developer option (Figure 1). The setting is located under Printer Settings (located on the left-hand side) and on the Printer Maintenance tab.
    • Launch the Tool Box, and click Clean Developer on the Printer Maintenance tab and then click Start.
