Dell EMC has decided on a new Monitor model number naming convention. There are a number of reasons for this:

  • It makes setup and identification for IT workers and systems easier
  • Dell can comply with regulatory certifications and other external requirements easier
  • Using the model number you can quickly identify:
    • the size and resolution of the screen
    • the generation of technology
    • call out the different features of the monitor
    • where it ranks amongst other monitors
  • It's much easier to understand and use than older naming conventions:
    • You don't need to re-learn any of the standards involved
    • This will become more relevant over time as more monitors come out
