This article provides information about supported firmware and drivers that have been validated for Dell EMC Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct Ready Nodes.

This article is valid for Dell EMC Solutions for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI based on PowerEdge R740xd2/R740xd/R640 Storage Spaces Direct Ready Nodes and PowerEdge R440,version 3.0.

For Storage Spaces Direct Ready Node, Dell EMC recommends to use a storage spaces direct specific catalog for a qualified set of firmware and drivers that can be used with iDRAC, OpenManage Essentials (OME), or OpenManage Enterprise .

Dell EMC Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct Ready Node Operations Guide for managing and monitoring Ready Node life cycle provides the steps to download storage spaces direct specific catalog and perform a update of the firmware and driver components.

Azure Stack HCI Network solution

The Dell/EMC Storage Spaces Direct Ready Node Solution supports two basic VLT network topologies supporting Cluster Node RDMA; Hyper-Converged & Non-Converged are comprised of both Top-Of-the-Rack (TOR) and Out-Of-Band (OOB) switches and as further illustrated in the sections to follow, each cluster node supports SFP+ (10Gbe) and SFP28 (25Gbe) DAC formfactor as well as the use of the QSFP/QSPF28 Quad break-out cables for the respective speeds (4x10Gbe & 4x25Gbe). Management of the TOR switches are assumed managed "In-band" where the cluster node Out-Of-Band (OOB or iDRAC) management traverses the 1/10Gbe management switch.
