There is no way to change the IP address in the driver for the Dell 5210n or 5310n printers. - Product Support Quick Note (PSQN) - 300395




Discussion of the inability to change the IP address on the 5210n, 5310n.

If the IP address of the Dell 5210n or 5310n printer is changed, it is not possible to change the IP address in the TCP/IP port of the driver on the client systems. It is not possible to edit the IP address field within the TCP/IP port on these two printers.



Delete the existing TCP/IP port and add a new port with the correct IP address for the printer.

To delete the existing TCP/IP port, perform the following steps for each device that is used to connect to the Internet (either modem, network card, or both):

  1. On the desktop, right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
  2. Right-click the modem or network card and then click Properties.
  3. In the list of components, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. Restart the computer if you are prompted to do so.

To reinstall the TCP/IP port, perform the following steps:

  1. On the desktop, right-click My Network Places, and then click Properties.
  2. Right-click the modem or network card and then click Properties.
  3. Click Install, click Protocol, and then click Add.
  4. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click OK.
  5. Configure the settings in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, and then click OK.
  6. Restart the computer if you are prompted to do so.
