Print an Envelope in the Standard Tray
Never use envelopes with windows, coated linings, or self-stick adhesives. These lead to paper jams and can cause damage to the printer.
Set the envelopes in the paper tray and adjust the guides.
Pull the tray out of the printer (Figure 1).

Adjust the paper guides on the back and sides to match the media that you are using (Figure 2).

Verify that the envelope switch is in envelope mode.
Raise the latch on the handle of the right hand cover to open the cover.
Press down the lever to set the envelope mode (Figure 3).

Load the envelope into the tray.
NOTE: If you insert plain paper in the MPF, lift up the lever (Figure 4).

Verify that the envelope is inserted with the flap closed, air vacuumed and the short edge facing toward the printer. Orient the print side facing down and slide the envelope into the entry slot. You can load envelopes up to the maximum fill line in the tray at one time.
