Why Does My Dell J740 Inkjet Printer Fail to Work When Connected to My USB Print Server?

Verify bi-directional communication for the J740

The J740 requires bi-directional communications which may not be available with a USB print server.

Setup the J740 printer with a bi-directional capable connection or share across the network

If your USB print server does not support bi-directional communications you can connect the J740 printer directly to a system running Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows 2000, and share the printer directly across the network.
