Some characters may disappear when printing a text watermark in Microsoft® Word on Dell™ 1600N, 1700, 1700N, S2500, or S2500N printers. - Product Support Quick Note (PSQN) - 175727




A printed text watermark in Microsoft® Word may not display all characters.

When selecting a text watermark background within Microsoft® Word, combinations of letters may be missing from the background on the printed page. For example, if the Text Watermark “ASAP” is selected as a background, the letters “S” and “P” may not be printed.

Depending on the printer model, the combination of missing characters may differ.



Disable semitransparency to enable all printed text watermark characters to appear in Microsoft® Word.

To change the following setting to allow all printed text watermark characters to print, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Microsoft® Word.
  2. Click the Format menu, point to Background, and then click Printed Watermark.
    The Printed Watermark window appears.
  3. Confirm the Text Watermark radio button is selected.
  4. Remove the check from the Semitransparent checkbox.
  5. Click Apply and then click Close.
